Privacy notice
How Sompisi Poultry Farm handles your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Short version: we collect only what an order needs, we use it only to fill that order, and you can ask us to delete it.
Responsible party: Sompisi Poultry Farm · House No. 513, Sisulu Location, Umzimkhulu, KwaZulu-Natal, 3297
1. What we collect
When you place an order, request a quote or contact us, we collect:
- Your name or business name.
- Your mobile number, and your email address if you give one.
- The town or delivery address needed to get your order to you.
- The details of your order: product, quantity, date and any notes you write.
- For wholesale accounts, business registration and banking reference details needed to invoice you.
2. Why we collect it
We process this information for one purpose: to quote, confirm, prepare and deliver your order, and to keep the sales and delivery records a farm business is required to keep. We do not build marketing profiles, and we do not sell, rent or trade your details to anyone.
We will only send you messages that are not about your own order, such as a price list update or a batch announcement, if you have separately asked us to.
3. How the order form works
This website does not store your order on a server. The order form runs entirely in your own browser: it assembles what you typed into an order slip and hands that slip to WhatsApp or your email programme so that you can send it to us yourself. Nothing is submitted until you press send in that app. Once we receive the message, the information in it is held by us as described in this notice. Messages sent over WhatsApp are also subject to WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
4. Who else sees it
We share personal information only where it is necessary, and only the minimum needed:
- A driver or assistant delivering your order sees your name, address and phone number.
- Our bank and accountant see the transaction records required for payment and tax.
- A regulator or law enforcement body, where the law requires us to disclose it.
5. How long we keep it
Order and delivery records are kept for five years, which is the retention period that applies to South African tax and business records. Enquiries that do not become orders are deleted within twelve months. Wholesale account records are kept for five years after the account closes.
6. How we protect it
Order records are kept on password-protected devices and access is limited to the people who run the farm office. Paper slips are stored in a locked office and destroyed once they have been captured. This website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. If a security breach ever affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
7. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.
- Object to us using your information for anything other than your order.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, without it affecting an order already placed.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
To exercise any of these, contact us on the farm line or by email at our email address. We respond within 30 days. You may also contact the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
8. Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising or analytics trackers. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of that request. Nothing else about your visit is recorded.
9. Children
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Orders should be placed by an adult.
10. Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date below. The version in force is always the one published here.
